The first in-house theatrical production of the year is almost upon us. We’re beginning a year of all manner of great stories with a night of much-needed Wildean wit, when our award-winning project Unbound present a rehearsed reading of An Ideal Husband at our Limelight Theatre on 4 February.

Sir Robert Chiltern MP and his wife Lady Gertrude are hosting a dinner party. The cream of London society are in town for the season, and descend upon the soiree. However, one guest has more than mingling in mind.
When an old acquaintance confronts Sir Robert with a secret from his past, a despicable blackmail plot begins to unfold. Robert is determined not to let his wife know of his past indiscretions – which could ruin his political career, but refuses the demands made of him to keep them unspoken. Will it now be time for the truth to come out?

Stripped back to just the words on the page, this script-in-hand production gives every line of Oscar Wilde’s witty and wry exploration of political and social corruption a chance to shine. Performed by a cast of talented local actors and directed by Andrew Shaw, the latest ‘Unbound Reading’ is sure to delight theatre fans ahead of what is set to be Unbound’s busiest ever year.
Tickets for An Ideal Husband (Saturday 4 February, 7.30pm) cost just £5, and can be purchased online here.
