With the first school holiday of the year on the horizon, we’re looking ahead to the fantastic set of inspirational workshops on offer at QPAC this February.
Spaces are already filling up for the classes, which are led by artist and tutor Ellie Kirkup. See below for more information about each class, or click here for full information.

Mon 21 Feb | Making Shadow Puppets (Ages 7-11) | 1 SPACE LEFT
Design and make you own puppet based on the signs of the zodiac – taking inspiration from the creatures and stories different cultures have seen in the stars. You will learn how to give your puppet character a sense of humour and make dramatic effects with light.
Tue 22 Feb | Paint Like A True Artist (Ages 7-11) | SOLD OUT
Fun and playful workshop exploring abstract art. Children will work on large scale, using some ‘grown-up’ materials and some materials that are less expected. See how we can make a big impact using colour and mark-marking, all inspired by British-Guyanese artist Frank Bowling.
Wed 23 Feb | Printmaking (Ages 12-16) | LAST FEW SPACES LEFT
An introduction to the various techniques of monotype – one of the most spontaneous methods of printmaking. Perfect if you’re already interested in drawing or painting, students will see how the same skills apply in prints. Suitable for all abilities and levels of confidence!
Thu 24 Feb | Concertina Artwork (Ages 12-16) | LAST FEW SPACES LEFT
Make an expanding drawing on folded paper, working from a mixture of observation and imagination. Students will be introduced to drawing with wet and dry soft pastels and learn new techniques. We’ll take inspiration from current artists who use these techniques professionally.
We look forward to welcoming our amazing young artists in a few weeks’ time. And don’t forget, we’ve got a wealth of great afterschool classes on offer, too.
