WORLD THEATRE DAY

World Theatre Day is celebrated annually on 27 March to inspire, promote and help bring about international recognition for the importance of theatre arts. Here at Queens Park Arts Centre, we are lucky enough to be the home of Unbound, an award-winning production company.

Formed in 2014, Unbound is led by Creative Producer Dario Knight alongside an ever-expanding community of actors, writers, directors, artists, makers, and technicians.  The mission statement of the company – ‘tell great stories’ – has seen it become the cornerstone of storytelling in Buckinghamshire, with more than 100 theatre, film and audio productions undertaken both at QPAC and on tour across the country.

Theatre projects include an annual Shakespeare tour, contemporary plays, new writing, rehearsed readings, improv showcases, and the Queens Park pantomime. The Unbound Sketchbook comedy team debut a new show every year and have recently joined the festival circuit, including an appearance at the inaugural Exeter Fringe.

In 2023 it was announced that Queens Park Arts Centre had been award a three-year grant by the Rothschild Foundation to support Unbound’s work – enabling the company to continue producing dozens of volunteer-led projects every year, in addition to two new initiatives designed to create paid work for local practitioners.

Producing over twenty-six different projects in the last year alone, there’s even more happening in 2023, so ensure to keep up to date by following Unbound on facebook and instagram for the latest news and events
